You Can’t Suppress What’s Naturally Meant to Bloom
Why following your dreams doesn’t make sense to anyone but you.
“And there came a time when the risk to remain tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom” -Anaïs Nin
You can’t force a bud to open, and at the same time you can’t suppress what’s naturally bound to happen. Try stopping a caterpillar from transforming into a butterfly. You can’t because it’s destined to happen, just as the acorn grows into the oak tree, the tadpole to a frog, and winter thaws into spring.
Nature has its cycles and so do we. Humans are here to experience, learn, grow, and transform. You can’t expect a baby to not grow and change into an adult. As people live their lives, they discern what they like and don’t like, want and don’t want. They create identities around themselves as a way to cohesively present themselves to the world.
However, these identities are mostly based on external appearances and achievements, and rarely get to the good stuff underneath the surface. We are conditioned to believe we have to behave a certain way so we are a model citizen of society. We aren’t supposed to step outside of the box of conformity lest we desire being called crazy, rebellious, or weird.
