Are you better or worse than this same time a year ago? What’s changed within you that’s made you a different person?
Why does it even matter anyway?
Truth be told, it doesn’t matter at all. Nothing matters and yet, everything matters. Without getting all Eckhart Tolle here, you do have to “die to the past each day” as he states, however, doesn’t each past experience make up who you are?
Yes, your experiences shape who you are, but most of us insist upon carrying the energetic weight (aka baggage) of a lot of these experiences thinking it makes us “who we are”.
In all honesty, it doesn’t make you who you are, it makes you heavy. It makes you less of who you are. Holding onto emotions from past situations and experiences keeps you stuck and prevents you from fully becoming you.
The reason is because every time you bring up the memory of an event that still carries an emotional charge, you relive it. You feed it more energy to keep itself alive when you hook into the story and get caught up in the emotion. That doesn’t help you grow, it keeps you as the…
