All things that grow go through a germination period, including you.

Growing is a messy, usually painful, and ultimately rewarding process.

And a process it is!

We’ve all been there. Can you think back to a time when you were just a beginner at something you’re now an expert at? Can you remember the process you went through? How did (or do) you feel about it? Was it easy? Did you face struggles and obstacles? Where did you get stuck? Where did you push through what was seemingly impossible at the time?

I’ll bet there were times of doubt, anxiety, and feeling not good enough. Maybe you even wanted to quit. Maybe you did quit. Maybe you stuck with it. Whatever you did at the time was right for you.

But through the process there were probably periods of “darkness”. I call all those not so great feelings like fear, doubt, and other life suckers part of my “darkness” because they keep me hidden inside myself, afraid to come out into the world for fear of being judged, misunderstood, or flat out wrong.

Now, being in your darkness isn’t a bad thing, so long as you don’t let it overtake you and prevent you from moving forward. Be there, acknowledge it, then take the lesson and move on. There’s always something…
