Avoiding Common Traps
Working for yourself can be one of the most rewarding (and most stressful) choices you could ever make. Being someone who follows their dreams is becoming more popular these days while the 9 to 5 life heading for the hills. Here are 3 tips to help you avoid getting derailed and stay the course when you make the choice to start a business, side hustle, or follow your dream.
1. Set firm work hours and stick to them.
I know it sounds simple but working from home leads itself to numerous distractions, and if you’re like me and easily distracted then you either need to go someplace else (which defeats the whole purpose of working from home) or set hours where you will sit your butt down and do actual work. If the sound of working a full day at home doesn’t interest you or is overwhelming, chunk it down into smaller time frames.
For example, you could say that from 9-11 you’ll write with one 5 minute water/stretch/bathroom break, then from 12-2 you’ll work on your website, or you could decide that no matter what at 9pm the laptop goes off and there’s nothing else work related until the next day.
